What is Sand Casting
Sand casting, also known as sand moulded casting, is a metal casting process characterized by using sand as the mould material. Molds are made of sand mixed with resin to develop the strength and plasticity needed for moulding, contained in mould boxes. The mould cavities and gating system are created by compacting the sand around patterns — reused for repetitive moulds.
Advantages

- Faster — no need to manufacture tooling for every casting.

Disadvantages
- Variation in dimensional accuracy & casting weight.
